SfC Introduction to Mental Health
Who needs this qualification?
Anyone working in health and social care in a mental health care environment. The Aim of this one day workshop is to introduce the participants to the differences between Mental Health and Mental Illness and to give a broad outline of the various disorders.
Topics Covered:
Ø Differentiate between Mental Health and Mental Ill Health
Ø Dispel some of the Myths and Stereotypes of Mental Illness
Ø Describe the difference between Psychosis and Neurosis
Ø Outline some of the possible causes
Ø Outline some of the main signs and symptoms of Psychosis
Ø Understand some of the main types of medication and their side effects
Ø Discuss the Impact of a Mental Illness on the client and on his/her family
The course serves as an excellent foundation for the City and Guilds Level 2 and 3 Certificates in Mental Care
