Level 2 Award in Hygiene in Health and Social Care

In the UK over a million people are employed as carers and millions more provide informal care and support for relatives and friends. The Department of Health has drawn up a code of practice acknowledging that everyone involved in care provision needs training to tackle the risk of Health Care Acquired Infection (HCAI).

 

Who needs this qualification?

 

All employees in the health and social care sector, including those in the private and voluntary healthcare sectors, to play their part in maintaining a clean and safe environment.

  • Personal hygiene
  • Cleaning

 

Outcomes

On completing this qualification candidates will be able to:

 

  • Terminology used in good hygiene practice.
  • Relationship of hazard and risk in prioritising action.
  • Relevant legislation relating to hygiene practice.
  • Concepts of hygiene hazards and infection control.
  • Importance of good personal hygiene.
  • Need for high standards of cleanliness to help prevent infection.
