NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
This course of study is suitable for students who wish to pursue a career in the area of care. Students are required to spend a minimum of 6 weeks on work experience either in a hospital or nursing home. By the end of the course the student will have:
· Specialised skills needed to work in the caring profession
· A City and Guilds (NVQ level 2) qualification in Health and Social Care
You will also be eligible to join the NVQ Level 3 Course in Health and Social Care. With the NVQ 3 qualification, you can progress into NVQ Level 4, Social Work, and train to be a nurse or enter other jobs in the caring profession.
Who can take this course
This NVQ will be the required qualification for 50% of the workforce in care homes for older people by 2005 as recommended in the National Minimum Standards from the Care Standards Act 2000. It is considered to be the minimum qualification required by a care worker by the sector skills bodies.
